Yoo Yeol's Triumphant Return on 'Immortal Songs': A Night of Emotion and Tribute
On the October 24th episode of KBS2TV's 'Immortal Songs,' the 'Artist Yoo Yeol Special' featured Yoo Yeol's return to the stage after a decade-long battle with illness. The episode also included tribute performances by junior artists such as Enoch, Woody, No Min Woo, La Poem, and Liberante (Kim Ji Hoon, Jin Won). Yoo Yeol, who once struggled to breathe, delivered a powerful performance, leaving viewers deeply moved.
Yoo Yeol appeared healthier than ever, touching the hearts of the audience. He expressed his gratitude, saying, "I'm thankful to meet my fans and excited to see the viewers again," and humorously added, "I'm also looking forward to meeting the 'Immortal Songs' MCs," showcasing his wit as a former radio DJ.
Yoo Yeol candidly shared his decade-long battle with illness, recalling the miraculous moment when a lung transplant saved his life after being given a terminal diagnosis. He expressed his gratitude to the donor and reflected on the profound impact his family had during his recovery.
Yoo Yeol revisited his musical beginnings with his debut song 'As You Are,' delivering a performance that belied his years of struggle. His unchanged voice and unique emotion resonated with the audience, who responded with tears of joy. Host Shin Dong-yup couldn't hold back his emotions, stating, "I was so happy," adding to the poignant atmosphere.
The first tribute performance was by Enoch, who chose 'Hymn of Love.' Enoch, known as the 'Mute Trot Gentleman,' captivated with his smooth vocals and rich accompaniment. Special guest Na Yoo Hyun added a pure, fairy-tale-like quality to the performance.
Woody took the stage next with 'Autumn Rain,' expressing admiration for Yoo Yeol's resilience. Woody's performance, accompanied by piano, conveyed the melancholic essence of autumn, deeply touching the audience. Enoch won the first round against Woody.
La Poem followed with 'Eruhwa,' showcasing a crossover performance with traditional dance elements. Their grand harmony and choreography created an artistic masterpiece, earning them a victory over Enoch.
Finally, Liberante (Kim Ji Hoon, Jin Won) performed 'One Day Suddenly.' Kim Ji Hoon expressed his honor to perform for Yoo Yeol. Their delicate harmony elevated the song's lyrical atmosphere, captivating the audience and securing the final win.
