Chef Im Sung-geun Faces Backlash for DUI Confession, Dropped from KBS2 Show
On the 19th, it was reported that the production team of the KBS2 variety show 'Pyeonstorang' has canceled Lim Sung-geun's recording schedule.
The day before, on the 18th, Lim uploaded a video titled 'Food and Alcohol' on his YouTube channel 'Lim Jjang TV'. In the video, he confessed to being cautious with alcohol for the past 5-6 years, admitting, "I made mistakes because I liked drinking. Over 10 years, I drove under the influence three times."
Viewers expressed their disapproval, commenting, "Don't try to make this sound cool or funny," "Even one DUI is a problem, but three?" and "It's shocking how casually he talks about this with a bottle in front of him."
Lim explained his reason for confessing, saying, "I want to hide it, but if something happens later, many people will be hurt. I don't want to make excuses for my wrongdoings." When asked by a producer if it was okay to upload the content, he replied, "I don't want to hide it. It's right to inform and apologize to our subscribers. It's not something that can be hidden, and I feel sorry for causing concern."
He further added, "Receiving immense love has been overwhelming, and I want to unburden myself. I've enjoyed drinking due to a busy and tough life, but I hope for forgiveness. I will be careful in the future to avoid any issues."
Meanwhile, Lim Sung-geun is set to appear on the MBC variety show 'The Manager' on the 24th.
