Chef Lim Sung-geun Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Stories from Netflix's 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War 2'
On his YouTube channel 'Lim Jjang TV,' Chef Lim posted a video titled 'Brought 11 minutes 43-44 seconds,' where he discussed the challenges faced during a team mission that required preparing meals for 100 people. He recalled planning to make a garlic sauce but had to change plans when he found only 2kg of garlic available.
Chef Lim decided to mix whole grain mustard and oriental dressing with the garlic he had, borrowing knives from fellow chefs Huduk Juk and Choi Yu-gang to chop the garlic. Despite the risk of potentially causing the team to fail, his quick thinking, including adding ground chamoe seeds, led to a decisive victory.
He also addressed the controversy over his sauce pouring technique seen on the show, clarifying that he did not cook by eye but adhered to precise measurements, as he often emphasizes the importance of scales on his channel. The editing made it appear otherwise, but he assured the consistency of the flavor.
He also shared an interesting story about partnering with Yoon Joo-mo, a contestant from a humble background. Yoon, a devoted subscriber of 'Lim Jjang TV' and a fan of 'Korean Food Battle,' impressed Lim, leading him to form a team without hesitation.
After partnering, Chef Lim quickly shared a recipe within five minutes, aiming to showcase the spirit of Korean cuisine through the combination of meat and radish salad, emphasizing consideration for guests.
Chef Lim chose a popular menu to introduce foreigners to the essence of Korean galbi, highlighting his ability to quickly grasp the production team's intentions as a key to surviving the competition.
