Ma Dong-seok will appear alongside Kim Jong-kook and Dex in tvN's new variety show 'I Am Boxer.' The show is a grand-scale boxing survival program designed by Ma Dong-seok himself, a global action star and a boxing gym owner with 30 years of experience, aiming to revive K-boxing. Participants include Jang Hyuk and Julien Kang.

It is reported that Ma Dong-seok was involved in the production of 'I Am Boxer' from its early planning stages, contributing significantly to the core concept and direction of the program.

Ma Dong-seok has a deep passion for boxing, having started the sport in middle school. He currently serves as the honorary vice president of the Korea Boxing Association and works as a boxing promoter. He expressed, "Boxing is life itself," and aims to showcase the beauty of the sport.

The show reflects Ma Dong-seok's long-standing interest in boxing, translated into a variety format. Industry insiders note that the mere fact of Ma Dong-seok's involvement in a boxing-themed variety show has garnered attention.

There are concerns, however. Ma Dong-seok recently returned to network television after a decade with the drama 'Twelve,' which only managed a 2% viewership rating, leaving much to be desired. Similar results in the variety show could lead to disappointment, and the niche appeal of boxing might pose a challenge for widespread success.

A broadcasting insider commented, "While Ma Dong-seok's name can attract interest, failure to deliver results could lead to criticism. Nevertheless, his genuine dedication and sincerity are likely to resonate with viewers."

As Ma Dong-seok embarks on his first variety show challenge, leaving behind the drama setbacks, all eyes are on whether his genuine passion for boxing and his presence as an action star will captivate the audience.
