Former KBS announcer Kim Jae-won has spoken out about the rumors surrounding his recent departure from the network, including speculation about his wealth and retirement package.

On the 23rd, Kim appeared on Hyun-wook Kim's YouTube channel 'News, Not Drinks' to clarify the rumors that emerged following his resignation.

In the video, Kim stated, "The claims of me being a billionaire or receiving a $2.5 million severance package are completely false," adding, "The amount I received is less than one-twentieth of what people imagine."

He went on to share his actual experience during the voluntary retirement process, explaining, "The severance package is larger the more years you have left until retirement, but I only had one year left. So, it was less than a few months' salary."

Kim also mentioned the 'retirement consolation money,' saying, "I noticed there was a consolation amount besides the severance pay, and I thought, 'Oh, there's something like this?' But then I saw it was only 800,000 won (approximately $600). That's when I realized how tough things are for the company."

Hyun-wook Kim added, "There's talk that KBS is even cutting salaries these days," to which Kim Jae-won responded, "I hope this clears up any misunderstandings."

Kim Jae-won recently retired after a 30-year career as an announcer at KBS. He has since left 'Morning Yard' and continues to pursue various broadcasting activities.
