Comedian Song Eun-yi Opens Up About Her Mother's Body Donation Decision
Song Eun-yi, a 52-year-old unmarried comedian born in 1973, recently shared her mother's decision to donate her body to science.

On the October 18th episode of KBS2's variety show 'Problem Child in House,' forensic scientist Professor Yoo Sung-ho appeared as a guest.

During the show, Professor Yoo discussed the issue of intentional self-harm among elderly individuals over 80. He recounted an incident where a mother, walking with her daughter along a riverbank, chose to end her life to escape the pain of cancer. When asked if the daughter, who was charged with aiding and abetting suicide, received any leniency, Professor Yoo confirmed, "There was considerable leniency."

Song Eun-yi revealed that her mother had applied to donate her body for medical research, stating, "She informed us, 'You should agree too.'" Her mother had applied to donate her body as a cadaver for research purposes.

Song Eun-yi explained, "My mother went to the hospital herself to apply for body donation. She filled out the application with a friend. Initially, it felt strange, but her intentions were clear, so we eventually agreed."

Professor Yoo commented, "It would have been better if she had donated to Seoul National University," to which Song Eun-yi replied with a laugh, "Yonsei University is closer to home, so she chose that."

In 2023, Song Eun-yi disclosed that her mother had been diagnosed with vascular dementia. At the time, Song Eun-yi mentioned, "She was diagnosed 10 years ago, but with good management, there are times when her memory is even better than mine."
