Former Baseball Star Lee Jong-beom Apologizes for 'Strongest Baseball' Controversy
Former baseball player Lee Jong-beom has issued an apology regarding the controversy surrounding his participation in the variety show 'Strongest Baseball.'

On the October 6th broadcast of MBC SPORTS+'s 'Beyond,' Lee Jong-beom appeared and addressed the issue. He stated, "When I took on 'Strongest Baseball' last June, the process was not smooth. I was short-sighted and have many regrets," opening up about his experience.

He continued, "It was a wrong choice, and I have to accept the consequences. The process since then has been very difficult. I've been thinking a lot and planning for the future." He added, "Since it was my decision, I am accepting it humbly. I feel sorry for the players at KT whom I could have supported more," bowing his head in apology.

Lee also expressed his desire to return to the KBO League. He said, "I am constantly thinking about how I can return to the field," and added, "If I get a call, I will go anywhere. I will strive to gain more recognition from fans and officials."

Last July, while serving as the first-team hitting coach for the professional baseball team KT Wiz, Lee Jong-beom requested to terminate his contract with the team to join JTBC's variety show 'Strongest Baseball' as a coach. It was unusual for an active coach to leave a team mid-season for a broadcast appearance, causing quite a stir at the time. However, with Lee Jong-beom now expressing his intention to return to the professional stage, the controversy continues.
