Shocking Revelations in 'The Defects': Abuse and Ambition Unveiled

The recent episode of ENA's Monday-Tuesday drama 'The Defects' has unveiled a shocking truth about An Ji-ho's character, who was abused and abandoned due to his sexual orientation.

In the fifth episode aired on the 4th, viewers witnessed Kim Se-hee (played by Yum Jung-ah) and Jung Hyun (played by Kim Jin-young) holding Kim Ah-hyun (played by Won Jin-ah) at the brink of life and death. The episode revealed the chilling truth that Se-hee is Ah-hyun's biological mother and the one who 'returned' her in the past.

Despite reuniting with her daughter, Se-hee maintained a cold and ruthless demeanor, even attempting to eliminate her, which sent shivers down the audience's spine. However, the situation took a turn when children appeared to rescue Ah-hyun, who was tied up and trapped in a drum, screaming for help. The children took Se-hee's daughter (played by Kim Ji-an) hostage and proposed an exchange for Ah-hyun. Needing her daughter, Se-hee had no choice but to release Ah-hyun. Yet, this incident made Se-hee realize that the children were plotting revenge against their adoptive parents.

The children, having escaped from Se-hee, sought out the church run by Ju-an's adoptive father, Yoon Se-hoon (played by Song Young-kyu), to gather funds for Ah-hyun's medical treatment. During this process, Ju-an's painful past of being abused and eventually abandoned due to his sexual orientation was revealed, evoking sympathy from the viewers.

Se-hee's shocking plan was unveiled when she met with the First Lady (played by Han Soo-yeon) along with her daughter. She intended to create a 'perfect child' by fertilizing the President's sperm with her egg. Her ambition to control the world using Kwon Kang-man (played by Son Jong-hak) and Yoon Se-hoon was also exposed, leaving the audience in shock.

Ah-hyun, having survived the ordeal, decided to stop hiding and confront the situation head-on. The children continued their unfinished revenge, pulling the trigger of anger once more towards the true faces of their adoptive parents, heightening the tension of the drama. Towards the end of the episode, Se-hee used Jung Hyun to eliminate obstacles blocking her goals. Her smiling face as she watched herself on screen sent chills down the viewers' spines.
