Kim Nam-gil Praises Chemistry with Co-star Kim Young-kwang in Netflix Thriller 'Trigger'
Actor Kim Nam-gil expressed his satisfaction with his on-screen chemistry with fellow actor Kim Young-kwang.

On the 29th, an interview was conducted with Kim Nam-gil, who plays the role of Lee Do in Netflix's 'Trigger,' at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Contrary to his character's appearance, Kim Nam-gil arrived with long permed hair, greeting the press warmly and showcasing his talkative nature.

'Trigger' is a gun disaster action thriller set in South Korea, where illegal firearms of unknown origin are delivered, leading to a series of gun-related incidents. The story follows two men who take up arms for their own reasons. Kim Nam-gil plays Lee Do, a police officer who picks up a gun again to uphold justice.

During the interview, Kim Nam-gil spoke about Kim Young-kwang, who plays the role of Moon Baek, saying, "He is inherently considerate. Although he doesn't speak much, he shares his opinions well when engaged in conversation." He added, "Young-kwang's role could easily come off as typical if not acted well. It could seem like a mere dual personality, but Young-kwang managed the tone adjustment excellently."

He continued, "If Young-kwang were too bright, Lee Do's tone would inevitably rise. Following that would ruin the character. If Young-kwang had been more high-toned, the character balance could have been disrupted. Conversely, if I were too heavy, that wouldn't work either. Young-kwang balanced it well."

The veteran actors discussed even the minutiae of where to sit and stand. Kim Nam-gil noted, "This project is quite challenging. Some works have a set formula, but with fantasy, you have to make it believable. We pondered how to convey the message without discomfort, especially since there are many provocative scenes that might blur the interpretation."

Meanwhile, according to Netflix's Tudum Top 10 website on the 30th, 'Trigger' recorded 2.9 million views within three days of its release, ranking 4th in the global Top 10 series (non-English) category.
