Kim Nam-gil Opens Up About Discomfort During Filming of Netflix Thriller 'Trigger'

On the 29th, an interview with Kim Nam-gil, who plays the role of Lee Do in Netflix's 'Trigger,' was conducted at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Contrary to his character's appearance, Kim Nam-gil arrived with long permed hair, warmly greeting the press and showcasing his talkative nature.
'Trigger' is a gun disaster action thriller that tells the story of two men who take up arms for their own reasons amidst a surge of illegal firearms and gun incidents in South Korea. Kim Nam-gil plays Lee Do, a police officer who takes up his gun again to uphold justice.
While the series primarily focuses on gun incidents, it also incorporates social issues such as sexual crimes, workplace harassment, and school violence. Kim Nam-gil shared, "I felt uncomfortable overall while filming. There were moments when I thought, 'Do we really have to go this far?' but in reality, there are even more extreme cases. According to police officers at the main office, there are many incidents that don't make the news. Reality seems more like a drama. It made me realize that these aren't just events happening in our series."
He added, "From Lee Do's perspective, workplace harassment seems the most serious. I also dislike when basic rules aren't followed and when people don't consider each other."
Meanwhile, according to Netflix's Tudum Top 10 website on the 30th, 'Trigger' recorded 2.9 million views within three days of its release, ranking 4th in the global Top 10 series (non-English) category.
