Super Junior Members Reflect on Their Early Days: Behind-the-Scenes Stories from 20 Years Ago

Super Junior members recently reminisced about their experiences from two decades ago.

On Kyuhyun's YouTube channel, 'KYUHYUN,' a video titled 'Super Junior Shares 20 Years of Behind-the-Scenes Stories in Express Mode' was uploaded.

In the video, Kyuhyun was joined by fellow members Shindong, Kim Heechul, and Eunhyuk. The members recalled their debut in 2005, noting that having a group with more than ten members was unprecedented at the time. Kim Heechul shared, "Back then, the audio director at music shows was almost like a club DJ during our performances, adjusting the sound levels constantly."

Eunhyuk added, "There weren't systems in place to accommodate a group of 12, so there were no spaces or waiting rooms big enough for us. When we performed at a building in Mokdong, there were only about three waiting rooms, reserved for the senior artists, and the rest of us had to wait in our cars or elsewhere." Shindong recalled, "Our vehicle was a bus, so we couldn't even park in the lot."

Eunhyuk continued, "We would stand in the hallway from the morning, with just enough space for two people to pass by. We lined up plastic chairs along one wall and sat there, pulling our knees in when people walked by." He also mentioned, "We even borrowed a bathroom to do touch-ups."

Kim Heechul shared, "We didn't have a makeup team, so our stylist would do our makeup like a conveyor belt, saying 'Okay, next' after finishing with each member." Shindong added, "Our manager arranged it that way to save money. We could have gone to a salon, but it was too expensive, so we did it ourselves."
