Actress Cha Chung-hwa Clarifies Allowance Rumors Involving Yoo Jae-suk

Actress Cha Chung-hwa recently addressed rumors about receiving an allowance from Yoo Jae-suk, who is eight years her senior.

On the November 11th episode of MBC's variety show 'Radio Star,' Cha Chung-hwa appeared alongside Do Ji-won, Kim Geum-soon, and Han Ji-eun in a special episode titled 'Actors' World.'

During the show, Cha Chung-hwa shared her connection with MBC, stating, "In my 20s, I auditioned at MBC and was cast in the sitcom 'Elephant.' It was a significant opportunity and role for me."

She continued, "At that time, I was only involved in theater and knew little about dramas. I was seriously ignorant about acting. The production team was in a frenzy because it was a sitcom that aired daily, and waiting for me was a burden. The set wasn't a school. I was informed of my departure on the way to the set."

Cha Chung-hwa added, "After receiving the notice, I went straight to a bookstore to buy books and study. I even bought a camera to research. Being let go taught me a lot."

Cha Chung-hwa also received her first award at MBC. She said, "I won a supporting actress award for 'Kokdu's Season.' I was about three months pregnant at the time. MBC has given me a full range of emotions."

Cha Chung-hwa also addressed the buzz about receiving an allowance from Yoo Jae-suk. In 2020, she appeared on 'Happy Together 4' and revealed, "Ten years ago, when I was very young, I was in the same company as Yoo Jae-suk. Whenever he visited the office, he would give me an allowance."

Cha Chung-hwa clarified, "People still think I receive an allowance from Yoo Jae-suk. Even my mother asked, 'Were you struggling that much?' I received an allowance about twice. It was portrayed as if I received it monthly during my unknown days, but that's not true. Yoo Jae-suk must have been surprised by the articles as well."
