Ryu Soo-young Embarks on Culinary Journey to Brunei After Porto Adventure
Ryu Soo-young has set off for Brunei, his next culinary destination, following his time in Porto.

In the fourth episode of T-Cast E Channel's 'Ryu Student Oh Nam-sun,' which aired on the 7th, the trio hosted a dinner for their benefactors in Porto, featuring dishes made from local ingredients. The menu included Ryu Soo-young's salt-grilled pork belly and port wine ribs, Yoon Kyung-ho's upgraded radish leaf cabbage wrap rice, and Ki-hyun's Portuguese-style rose pork stir-fry.

Ryu Soo-young intrigued viewers by boiling the ribs in a pan before grilling them, a technique he revealed as a tip to infuse the marinade quickly. He seasoned the ribs with soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and port wine, then cooked them in an air fryer for a tender finish. The salt-grilled pork belly, tailored for pork-loving Portuguese, was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Ryu also impressed by using a cheese grinder to make pear juice for Ki-hyun's dish. Ki-hyun completed the rose pork stir-fry with piri-piri sauce and cream, making it kid-friendly.

Yoon Kyung-ho enhanced his radish leaf potato rice with a spoonful of butter, as advised by Ryu, for added flavor. When Yoon attempted to mince garlic with a knife, Ryu humorously suggested, "Smash it like catching a mosquito," which Yoon executed perfectly, adding a touch of humor. Ryu proposed a cabbage wrap form for Yoon's dish, using cooking foil instead of a bamboo mat to roll the cabbage around the rice and radish leaf mixture. The meal concluded with a simple yet delightful port wine toast topped with homemade strawberry jam.

Guests included the mother-daughter duo who welcomed the trio on their first day, two interpreters who assisted throughout their stay, and 'Sea Urchin Brother,' a chef from New York who met Ryu by chance. The chef praised the trio's culinary creations, suggesting they open a restaurant in Portugal. Despite the spicy garlic, the guests were impressed by the flavors.

Having completed their culinary studies in Portugal, Ryu, Yoon, and Ki-hyun have now embarked on their second journey to Brunei. This Southeast Asian nation, with a population smaller than Jeju Island, is known for its traditional stilt houses and stunning landscapes, earning it the nickname 'Golden Kingdom.' The trio was welcomed at a guesthouse run by a local culinary master, who prepared the traditional dish 'Nasi Lemak' for them. The trio was captivated by the flavors, with Ki-hyun humorously noting his 'chubby baby sensor' was activated by the aroma. The versatile 'Sambal' sauces reminded them of familiar yet novel tastes.

Back in Seoul, the trio is hosting a pop-up store at The Hyundai Seoul in Yeouido until the 8th, showcasing their newly developed 'Ryu Student Recipes.' The episode concluded with scenes of the trio greeting visitors at the bustling pop-up store, where fans expressed their excitement at tasting the dishes featured on the show. For those unable to visit, Ryu shared a recipe for 'Cream Cod Roll Pasta' to try at home.
