KBS Drama 'Stealing the First Night' Set to Premiere After Heritage Controversy
KBS 2TV's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Stealing the First Night' has confirmed its premiere date, approximately three months after a controversy over cultural heritage damage.

'Stealing the First Night' is a 'no-brake' romance fantasy where an ordinary college student's soul inhabits a minor character in a romance novel, leading to an unexpected night with the novel's obsessive male lead.

Seohyun stars as Cha Seon-chek, the minor character inhabited by college student K, while Ok Taecyeon plays Ibeon, the male protagonist and a royal family member, hinting at a cross-dimensional encounter.

After college student K becomes Cha Seon-chek and spends a night with Ibeon, the novel's plot takes unpredictable turns, promising to elevate viewers' dopamine levels. The audience is eager to see what unfolds for the wayward Cha Seon-chek and Ibeon.

The teaser poster features Cha Seon-chek (played by Seohyun) and Ibeon (played by Ok Taecyeon) against a twilight sky, sharing an intense gaze. Their close proximity and the palpable tension between them hint at a heart-fluttering romance that defies predetermined endings.

The production team of 'Stealing the First Night' stated, “Through the romance of Cha Seon-chek and Ibeon, who transcend time, space, dimensions, and fate, we aim to fulfill the modern fantasy of escaping reality. We hope viewers enjoy the massive butterfly effect caused by a minor character's deviation.”

Previously, in January, the drama faced allegations of damaging Byeongsan Seowon, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In response, KBS decided to discard all controversial footage and any scenes featuring Byeongsan Seowon, following a request from Andong City. KBS also issued an official apology through a separate broadcast and plans to revise filming guidelines.

With its teaser poster already sparking curiosity, 'Stealing the First Night' is set to premiere on June 11th at 9:50 PM.
