In the Era of Content Overload: A Guide to Must-Watch Shows by Taeyuna, TenAsia
TV Chosun is making waves with its abrupt programming changes, seemingly leveraging singer Lim Young-woong to counter competing shows. The sudden preemption and rescheduling of 'Now Alone' raises eyebrows, as it appears to be a tactic to undermine the ratings of 'The King of Singers 2,' airing at the same time. This move by TV Chosun, prioritizing competition over viewer commitments, is drawing criticism.

'Now Alone' was unexpectedly halted after its 11th episode on November 19. Although a press release mentioned the 12th episode would air on December 3, no explanation was given for its absence on November 26. On December 3, TV Chosun once again postponed the show, breaking its promise to viewers.

TV Chosun released a preview for 'Now Alone,' announcing the 12th episode would air on December 16, a Monday, deviating from its usual Tuesday slot. This three-week hiatus without explanation suggests a strategic move against 'The King of Singers 2,' which began airing on MBN on November 26, coinciding with 'Now Alone's' preemption.

'The King of Singers 2,' produced by former TV Chosun PD Seo Hye-jin's team, is a formidable rival to 'Mr. Trot 3,' which is set to premiere on December 19. To counter this, TV Chosun replaced 'Now Alone' with 'Mr. Trot: The Movie,' a concert film featuring performances and behind-the-scenes footage of the 'Mr. Trot TOP6' stars, including Lim Young-woong.

Subsequently, TV Chosun launched 'Miss & Mr. Trot Memory Trip,' a program showcasing six years of 'Miss & Mr. Trot' footage, airing in 'Now Alone's' Tuesday 10 PM slot. This move further explains the preemption of 'Now Alone.'

'Miss & Mr. Trot Memory Trip' is seen as a repackaging of old content, using 'trot star' Lim Young-woong to draw viewers to TV Chosun.

When asked about the preemption and rescheduling of 'Now Alone,' TV Chosun offered no explanation, stating only that the 12th episode was rescheduled to December 16 "in consultation with programming and production." Such vague reasoning, especially when using Lim Young-woong as a draw, is disappointing to viewers.
