Dr. Oh Eun-young Shares Her Battle with Colon Cancer
Dr. Oh Eun-young opens up about her emotional journey during her battle with colon cancer.
On the upcoming episode of MBC's 'Heartfelt Lecturers', airing on the 10th, Dr. Oh Eun-young, along with origami expert Kim Young-man and pop columnist Kim Tae-hoon, will take the stage to discuss the theme 'When Things Don't Go Your Way'.
In the 'Heartfelt Stories' segment, Dr. Oh Eun-young listens to the audience's real-life concerns about marriage, dieting, and academics, offering sincere advice and empathy. Amidst these stories, Dr. Oh shares her own experiences of facing setbacks when life didn't go as planned. Recalling the despair and frustration she felt upon being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2008, she confesses, "I couldn't believe that someone like me, who wasn't a bad person, could get cancer." Dr. Oh emphasizes that feeling despair is a natural human emotion and stresses the importance of making efforts to recover during such times, offering warm comfort to the audience.
Previously, Dr. Oh appeared on 'Radio Star' and shared, "During a health check-up, they found a malignant tumor in my gallbladder on the ultrasound. However, since a biopsy couldn't be performed on the gallbladder, they said they would have to open up my abdomen to confirm the nature of the tumor. They told me it was a bad sign and that if it was malignant, I had six months to live," recalling the time she received a terminal diagnosis.
As a national mentor, Dr. Oh Eun-young deeply empathizes with the audience's concerns and offers solace in the 'Heartfelt Stories' segment of 'Heartfelt Lecturers', which airs at 9:10 PM.
