Shin Hyun-joon and Kim Kyung-mi's Heartfelt Profile Shoot and Date Night on 'Dad is a Flower Middle-aged Man'
In this episode, the '57-year-old flower daddy' Shin Hyun-joon, with the help of his 'best friend' photographer Hong Hye-jin, will have a profile photo shoot with his wife, who is 12 years younger and a cellist. The family of five will first make songpyeon (Korean rice cakes) in preparation for Chuseok and then change into beautiful hanboks for a family photo session led by Hong Hye-jin. After the family shoot, Hong Hye-jin suggests that Kim Kyung-mi take a solo profile photo, persuading her by saying, 'You look the most beautiful today.'
Hong Hye-jin helps Kim Kyung-mi choose an outfit, but upon seeing the limited selection, she comments, 'You don't have many clothes. You must not have time to shop because you're always looking after the kids. Living as a working mom is tough. You're amazing.' Kim Kyung-mi, who not only takes care of their three children but also works as a director at her husband's entertainment agency, handling translation and management, is visibly touched.
Dressed in a black dress, Kim Kyung-mi exudes elegance befitting a cellist, prompting Shin Hyun-joon to repeatedly exclaim, 'Wow.' Despite feeling shy, Kim Kyung-mi completes her first solo profile shoot and then joins her husband for a joint session.
Hong Hye-jin directs the couple to 'hug each other a bit,' to which Kim Kyung-mi, feeling embarrassed, responds, 'It's been a long time since we were this close,' but she eventually pulls her husband in for a hug. In an interview with the production team, Kim Kyung-mi smiles and says, 'It was a time we needed.'
After the profile shoot, Shin Hyun-joon takes his beautifully dressed wife out for a dinner date. Entering the restaurant, Kim Kyung-mi remarks, 'I think this is the first time we've come to a Western restaurant just the two of us,' and Shin Hyun-joon jokes, 'You like spending time with just the two of us? I thought you hated me.'
Kim Kyung-mi candidly shares, 'Sometimes I want to eat in a place where the kids aren't screaming. We have so many group activities that I can't even breathe. We even sleep together.' As they engage in an honest conversation, live music prepared by the restaurant starts playing, causing the couple to burst into tears.
