BTS's Jin Showcases Impressive Cooking Skills
BTS member Jin showcased his impressive cooking skills.
On the 26th episode of MBC's 'If You Rest, It's a Relief' (hereafter referred to as 'Rest Relief'), CEO Ahn Jung-hwan, BTS's Jin, B1A4's Sandeul, Kim Nam-il, and chefs Lee Yeon-bok and Lee Hong-woon embarked on a journey to find a new island for their second unmanned hotel.
Ahn Jung-hwan, along with his workers, set out to scout a new island for the second branch of their unmanned hotel. While the members went out to gather seafood, Jin, who enjoys fishing, crafted a handmade fishing rod.
Seeing this, Ahn Jung-hwan remarked, "I want to catch a shark." Jin responded, "I prefer tuna over sharks. I caught a tuna in the East Sea. It's recorded on video," boasting about his fishing skills.
While Sandeul, Kim Nam-il, and Lee Hong-woon were busy gathering seafood, Jin attempted fishing. However, contrary to expectations, there were no bites. The water level also dropped. Jin explained, "The shallow water where the bottom is clearly visible made me realize it wasn't ideal. The place where I caught tuna was in the open sea." Jin then tried his hand at gathering shellfish. However, every shell he picked up was empty, leading him to exclaim, "Fooled again," eliciting laughter. Watching the video, Kim Dae-ho commented, "He's a bit weak in the mudflats." Boom added, "He's the best on stage, but it's tough in the mudflats." Kim Dae-ho further remarked, "He's a rookie in the mudflats." Jin, with a rookie's determination, continued digging and quickly collected several clams. He also found a sea cucumber, which he tasted and remarked, "It's sweet."
The group then prepared dishes with the harvested seafood. Jin was in charge of making conch and deodeok salad. His skilled knife work and cooking abilities impressed chef Lee Yeon-bok. Ahn Jung-hwan also praised him, saying, "It's perfect, just add more vinegar. What did you put in? You're good." Jin responded, "Thank you for enjoying it."
Jin also brought laughter with his fear of crabs. Using a pickaxe to catch a crab, he called Sandeul for help, grumbling, "I'm letting you have it, even though you don't know," but admitted, "I'm scared it might bite or attack."
Focused on finding clams in the mudflats, Jin said, "I caught some at first, but now they're not coming out, which is disappointing." Helping Sandeul find clams, Jin confidently said, "I told you I'm different. Just trust and follow me now, got it?"
Looking at the gathered ingredients, Jin expressed a desire for pizza. The members were puzzled, asking, "How can we make pizza on an island?" Chef Lee Yeon-bok suggested making a 'Korean pizza' and proposed a clam pancake. Impressed by Jin's cooking skills, Lee Yeon-bok entrusted him with making the clam pancake.
Jin successfully executed the challenging task of flipping the pancake, completing the dish. The members, after tasting Jin's clam pancake, praised him, saying, "You should change your name to 'Jeon' (pancake)." Jin requested Ahn Jung-hwan to call him a chef. Lee Yeon-bok's Chinese-style vongole pasta and chili crab also graced the table, with the members continuously expressing their satisfaction, saying, "It's delicious."
