Park Min-young Transforms into a Genius Con Artist in 'Confidence Man KR'

Park Min-young, who previously revealed she lost weight down to 37kg for her role as a cancer patient in 'Marry My Husband' last year, is set to make a dramatic transformation in her new role as Yoon Yi-rang, a 'genius con artist leader' with beauty, brains, and wealth.

Premiering on September 6th, TV CHOSUN's new weekend mini-series 'Confidence Man KR' is a 'caper comic' that follows three con artists with diverse talents as they seek revenge on the villains of this era.

Directed by Nam Ki-hoon, known for his delicate direction in 'Casino', 'Kiss Sixth Sense', 'Oh My Baby', and 'Voice 3', and written by Hong Seung-hyun and Kim Da-hye, who are celebrated for their exceptional storytelling and imaginative writing, 'Confidence Man KR' is generating significant buzz. The series stars Park Min-young, Park Hee-soon, and Joo Jong-hyuk, promising to be a dopamine-fueled 'K-caper' sensation in the latter half of 2025.

In 'Confidence Man KR', Park Min-young plays Yoon Yi-rang, an heiress with an IQ of 165, who is a genius con artist leader. She skillfully portrays a character that is both meticulous and bold, lively and delicate. Park Min-young is set to redefine her career with this role, following her success as a 'rom-com queen', now aiming to become the 'queen of capers'.

On the 14th, Park Min-young captivated audiences with her 'forceful first scene' as the charismatic 'genius con artist leader' Yoon Yi-rang. In the scene, Yoon Yi-rang declares her resolve at a 'coin laundry', sitting on a chair in front of a washing machine, planning with a deadly gaze and chic expression, hinting at the burdens of leadership. Her outfit, a mini dress with a bold pattern and feminine silhouette paired with an oversized leather jacket, showcases her 'max-level beauty' as a leader. Anticipation is high for Yoon Yi-rang's dynamic efforts to 'cleanse' the hypocritical villains.

Park Min-young shared her reasons for choosing 'Confidence Man KR', stating, "I felt connected to Yi-rang's reasons for becoming a sociopath." When asked about similarities with her character, she replied, "I also have an INTJ personality when working, and Yi-rang seems to have that too. She appears to do things casually but imagines everything and plans B and C. I felt that similarity, but I'm not as crazy as Yi-rang." She expressed her pride in the project, saying, "It seems like a 'K-caper' with universal themes that everyone around the world can relate to. I hope many people watch it."

The production team praised Park Min-young, saying, "The more we filmed, the more we couldn't imagine anyone else as Yoon Yi-rang," and encouraged viewers to watch her outstanding performance in 'Confidence Man KR'.

'Confidence Man KR' will premiere on September 6th at 9:10 PM on TV CHOSUN and Coupang Play, and will be available globally on Amazon Prime Video in 240 countries and regions, excluding Korea.
