Park Kalin Reveals Why She Can't Be with Choi Jae-rim on 'Radio Star'

Park Kalin will reveal the decisive reason why she cannot be with Choi Jae-rim, who was once rumored to be her romantic partner.

On the upcoming episode of MBC's variety show 'Radio Star,' airing on the 21st, Park Kalin, Seo Dong-joo, Pungja, and Um Ji-yoon will appear in a special titled 'Single Night Live.' The episode is expected to showcase the vibrant single lives of the guests.

Park Kalin, South Korea's first musical director, returns to 'Radio Star' after four years. When asked if this would be her last appearance on the show, she intriguingly responded, 'I've been running for too long, so I plan to stop soon,' sparking curiosity about her story.

Park Kalin directed the changgeuk 'Manshin: Paper Shaman' this year. She confessed, 'The story I wanted to tell was so vast that it was systemically challenging. For the first time, I said 'I quit' multiple times. Some staff members even cried because of me.' Kim Gook-jin, who worked with Park Kalin on the 'Men's Qualification' choir, testified, 'The choir cried a lot too,' and 'Variety Show Godfather' Lee Kyung-kyu shared an episode where he ran away during practice but was caught, adding to the intrigue.

Park Kalin also revealed, 'I've never felt lonely. I have a unique family, including Choi Jae-rim and writer Jeon Soo-yang.' She candidly shared her secret to living alone without feeling lonely. She also stated that even if she lived with someone she liked, they would have to use separate rooms, revealing her firm principles.

Park Kalin mentioned Choi Jae-rim, who appeared on 'Radio Star' last May, saying, 'Why did you bother Jae-rim here? Jae-rim is truly family. I'm also close to his mother,' once again denying the dating rumors. She teased that there is a decisive reason why she can't be with Choi Jae-rim, saying, 'He sings too well,' piquing curiosity.

Park Kalin shared the behind-the-scenes story of her starring in the musical 'Chicago' not as a music director but as the lead actress. After 20 years as a music director, she was unexpectedly offered the role of 'Velma.' She recounted how she auditioned and eventually took the stage, with charismatic footage from the actual performance to be revealed.

Park Kalin also shared her venture into the trot music scene. She said, 'I went instead of Song Ga-in, and they gave me an extra spot,' expressing her unique love for trot music. She named Lee Mi-ja's 'Rainy Yangsan Road' as her favorite trot song and showcased her trot singing skills, raising expectations.

Park Kalin disclosed her parents' cross-border love story. She shared how her father, who went to study in the U.S. in the 1950s, met her mother, a freshman at the same university, and how they ended up living in Korea. She added, 'My father sent my mother and three daughters to Korea first, and my grandmother was bedridden for two months,' drawing attention to the reason.
