Kim Ha-neul, what a foolish mother
Actress Kim Ha-neul revealed the difficulties she faced while raising a child and working as an actress.
On the 9th, Kim Ha-neul met with Ten Asia at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul and told various stories about Disney+'s 'Hangin Scandal'.
'The Hwain Scandal' is a deadly scandal drama about the Now Foundation Chairman Oh Wan-soo and her bodyguard Seo Do-yoon (played by Jung Ji-hoon), whose lives are threatened due to an inheritance war surrounding the top 1% of Hwain families in Korea, and they face the secrets of the Hwain family. In the drama, Kim Ha-neul plays the role of the Hwain family's daughter-in-law and icon Oh Wan-soo.
Kim Ha-neul, who married a businessman a year younger than her in 2016 and has a daughter, said, "I've been supporting single mothers' groups and volunteering at adoption centers for the past four years. I was embarrassed to be exposed at first, but then I thought I shouldn't be. Adoption centers need to be promoted so that these kids can get adopted. One day, I went to volunteer and it was adoption day. I happened to see a mother and child walking hand in hand, and we all cried. I was so touched. So now I'm trying to be more open about these things."
When asked if there were any changes after marriage and childbirth, he said, "I think there definitely were. Before, I think it was all about me. I had religion and support, but it wasn't easy to put it into action. I had the desire, but life was busy." He said, "My perspective changed after I had the child. I think I'm more inclined toward that direction because of the child."
How does one maintain the balance between being an actress Kim Ha-neul and a mother? Kim Ha-neul said, "In some ways, it seems greedy. My family is so precious to me and my children are so precious, but I think I don't exist without acting. Raising a child makes me happy and loving, but it feels like I disappear. It's a completely different feeling of happiness, like becoming a mother rather than Kim Ha-neul. I've been raising a child for 7 years, but I've been acting for nearly 30 years. When I come to the set, I feel like I become myself." She said, "It's hard because I want to do both well, but I'm so happy acting. Also, I think I'm better at raising a child when I'm working than when I'm resting. When I come home after focusing outside, I feel like I'm more devoted to my child. It's ironic. When I'm resting and just with my child, I end up telling my child not to do things a lot," she laughed.
Her daughter also knows that she is an actress and is "proud." When asked if she would support her daughter if she became an actress, Kim Ha-neul said, "These days, a lot of pictorial concepts are to have a blank expression and look away. She imitates that a lot. She asks me to take pictures with her and keeps striking poses like that," and showed her doting side by saying, "She's cute. She tries to give her daughter whatever she wants."
