The producer of 'Solo Hell' shared his thoughts on the controversy over Kim Gyu-ri's harsh words and Dex's reaction.

On the 11th, PD Kim Jae-won and Kim Jeong-hyeon met with Ten Asia at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul and told various stories about the Netflix entertainment show 'SoloGy 3'.

'Solo Hell 3', which ended on the 9th, is an honest and hot dating reality show for singles that takes place on 'Hell Island', a remote island where only couples can go out. In Season 3, the final four couples were born: Choi Hye-sun, Lee Kwan-hee, Ahn Min-young, Lee Jin-seok, Kim Gyu-ri, Park Min-gyu, and Yoo Si-eun and Choi Min-woo.

Previously, Kim Gyu-ri responded to Choi Min-woo's attitude as if he was weighing Yoo Si-eun with her, saying, "I don't think I would have someone like that even if I gave them to him," and "You're a Gwanhee department, right?" Controversy arose over his attitude due to his unpleasant reactions. Some viewers responded that it was excessive to air Kim Gyu-ri's harsh words and actions without editing.

In response, PD Kim Jae-won said, "The standards for editing are clear. Everything related to the love line is sent out. I thought Gyu-ri's remarks were a necessary scene because it was the end of Min-woo and Gyuri's narrative, and I thought I should explain it in detail."

He continued, "If we don't air that, it won't be possible to explain why Minwoo was confirmed as Si-eun in the end. I thought it was necessary to satisfy viewers' curiosity. Other elements would have been edited out to protect the contestants. Those words were the two's words. “It was the end of the narrative, so there was a need to explain it in detail,” he added.

Dex, who heard Gyu-ri's remarks, also gave out unstoppable cider reactions such as "You crossed the line" and "You exposed even your undertones."

Producer Kim Jae-won said, "The MCs, except for Dex, defended why Gyu-ri did what she did. If it ended like that, viewers would have felt why they were trying to forcefully protect the contestant. If they had done that, they would have cursed even more, but Dex spoke honestly there. "I think there is something that has been resolved to some extent. Rather, there is an aspect of protecting the performer," he said, explaining the reason for not editing Dex's remarks.

He continued, "I think the MCs were really honest this season. Since the people on the island are honest, the MCs had no choice but to be honest as well. If the MCs hadn't done that, I would have heard a lot of people say, 'Why are you doing this?' "I think it's possible, but I think some aspects have been resolved to some extent by the MCs explaining things in a humorous and fun way and criticizing them in an interesting way. Striking that balance was an important point this season," he added.
