The epic story of Kim Jeong-hyun and Lim Soo-hyang's long relationship that spanned time and space has reached its first chapter.

The first episode of MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'Season of Kokdu', which first aired on the 27th, recorded a viewership rating of 4.8% nationwide and 4.8% in the metropolitan area. The scene where Han Hane-jeol is contacted by Do Jin-woo (played by Kim Jeong-hyun) after the interview achieved an instant viewer rating of 5.5% (based on Nielsen Korea's households in the metropolitan area).

On this day, the broadcast revealed a situation that went back and forth between emotional and comical through the strange relationship surrounding Kokdu (played by Kim Jeong-hyeon) and Hangye-jeol (played by Lim Soo-hyang).

‘Season of the Kokdu’ began with the tragedy of the warriors Oh Hyeon (played by Kim Jeong-hyun) and Seol-hee (played by Lim Soo-hyang), who betrayed their country to protect their past love. The extreme love between the two men and women, who shed blood over the lives of dozens of people, incurred the wrath of the Creator, and Oh-hyeon was cursed to become the god of the underworld, Kokdu, and Seol-hee was doomed to repeat cruel deaths. Interest was heightened as to how this unfortunate love would be intertwined with the story that will unfold in the future.

In the midst of this, Han Hane-jeol, a doctor with the same face as Seol-hee in the past, but with a very different atmosphere, appeared. Han Hane-jeol, who had no money or background, was fired due to abuse of power by the patient's guardian, and when he almost fell down the stairs, he received help from a mysterious man and miraculously saved his life.

The man who disappeared after saving Hangyejeol had the face of Ohhyeon, who was said to have become the god of the underworld, raising doubts as to what kind of thread of fate was connected between them. Additionally, the ring necklace the man left behind was a ring that existed next to Oh Hyun and Seol Hee in the past, implying that it would be an important key to their new relationship.

Han Hane-jeol, who mistook the man who saved him for Do Jin-woo, the head of the Pilseong Hospital, became Do Jin-woo's parachute and began having fairy-tale-like dreams. But Do Jin-woo had a different idea. He, who killed his mother in a medical accident planned by someone, discovered that Han Hane-jeol knew who was behind the incident and confessed that he had deliberately approached her.

Han Hane-jeol was confused when she realized all the facts, but she also felt guilty about her mother's death. Kim Pil-soo (played by Choi Kwang-il), the chairman of the Pilseong Hospital, revealed the full story of the incident, saying that he instigated another doctor to replace the CT photo of Do Jin-woo's biological mother. Han Hane-jeol knew better than anyone else the pain of losing his mother, so he decided to help Do Jin-woo.

However, on the day of the final battle to reveal Kim Pil-soo's crime, Do Jin-woo suffered a serious accident and their plans were foiled. Han Je-jeol, who witnessed an unexpected accident like a snowflake falling in the middle of summer, fell into a panic. Hangyejeol's image of trying to save Do Jin-woo by crying, "Don't die in front of me," overlapped with the image of a woman crying over the death of a warrior.

As tensions rose over whether Do Jin-woo would be able to wake up, the story took a new turn. Kokdu, the god of the underworld who is said to descend to this world every 99 years, possessed the body of Do Jin-woo, who had died. Kokdu, who uttered his first bloody words by saying, “I would have said that I would kill the first person I see,” marked the first episode with intensity by announcing the advent of the arrogant god of the underworld.

In this way, 'Season of the Kokdu' shows the eventful day of Hangejeol, while opening the door to fantasy romance with an ending in which the god of the underworld descends with murderous eyes.
