Real culprit of 30-year-old housewife who died after being tied up, arrested after 18 years
The ‘unbreakable hearts’ of the ‘Brave Detectives 2’ detectives solved the case.

In the 18th episode of T-Cast E Channel's 'Brave Detectives 2', which aired on the 3rd, Detective Kim Eung-hee of Gangbuk Police Station and Detective Lee Young-sam of Jinju Police Station appeared and revealed the cases they solved.

The case introduced by Detective Kim Eung-hee was the first case in which ‘brave detectives’ were arrested in 18 years. In 1998, the Nowon Fire Department received a report from a woman who thought someone dead next door, and when dispatched to the scene, the victim was already dead. The victim, a housewife in her 30s, was found with her entire body tied to the floor of her bedroom.

Because DNA technology was poor at the time, the only information that could be obtained was that the suspect was a male with blood type AB. The face of the prime suspect was captured on the ATM's CCTV, but there were no witnesses and no DNA match could be found. In the end, two years later, the case was permanently unsolved and the investigation team was disbanded.

Detective Kim Eung-hee began a reinvestigation in 2016, 18 years later. Based on the criminal's DNA information, he was able to identify the person who commonly tied up the victim in special robbery crimes through persistence, such as comparing all photos through the database of ex-convicts, and obtained DNA, revealing that it was the same DNA as the criminal from 18 years ago. It was a shining moment of 18 years of unwavering tenacity.

The criminal had raised a family and lived a normal life for 18 years. He claimed that the crime was accidental, but because it was clear that there were intentional circumstances, such as binding, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The case introduced by Detective Lee Young-sam is considered the biggest case in the 80-year history of Jinju. In October 2010, a woman in her 30s was stabbed to death on a bed in the master bedroom of a villa.

Since the necklace, ring, and bracelet with the victim's name on it disappeared from the scene, a search order was issued to gold and silver stores across the country, but there was no report of this kind. Meanwhile, the owner of a gold and silver store reported a woman suspected of being a thief, and as a result of chasing the woman, it was discovered that the jewelry was given to her by a man living with her.

Mr. Cha, the housemate, admitted to the charge of theft, and while searching Mr. Cha's house, the date of the theft was found checked on the calendar. Detective Lee Young-sam discovered that one of the checked dates matched the date of the villa murder case. In particular, when he inspected the theft scene, he saw that Mr. Cha habitually locked the front door latch, and it was also discovered that the latch was locked at the murder scene. I was sure that he was the culprit. However, Mr. Cha denied the murder incident.

Detective Lee launched psychological warfare to induce a confession and put psychological pressure on Mr. Cha, including intentionally going to the crime scene early in the morning when the crime occurred. In the end, Mr. Cha confessed and surprised everyone by additionally confessing that he had murdered four more people. In fact, the cases were unsolved, and two of the four people he claimed to have killed died, and two fortunately survived, leaving them as attempted murder cases. Mr. Cha was sentenced to life imprisonment.
