Actor Baek Il-seop (80) expressed satisfaction with his life living alone after graduating.

In the tvN STORY entertainment show 'The Chairman's People' that aired on the 3rd, Baek Il-seop, the main character of 'The Jujube Tree Is Caught in Love', was seen as a guest and reunited with Kim Soo-mi for the first time in a long time.

On this day, Kim Soo-mi, who reunited with Baek Il-seop after 6 years, expressed her happiness and mentioned the 1982 movie 'Hwasuni' in which they starred together. 'Hwasuni' is Kim Soo-mi's first film debut, in which she co-stars with Baek Il-seop.

Baek Il-seop said, “The Kim Soo-mi I remember is cute, and only her pretty appearance is entered into my mind. “After that, the evil Kim Soo-mi is not in my head,” he said. In response, Kim Soo-mi asked, “You haven’t worked with me since then,” and Baek Il-seop said, “Didn’t you get married early? I had already gotten married during the time of ‘Hwasuni’. “I was talking on the phone with my husband at that time,” she recalled.

At the same time, Baek Il-seop indirectly mentioned to Kim Soo-mi that her husband had changed, saying, “That’s there, right?”, making everyone laugh. Kim Soo-mi replied, “That husband is the same,” and Kim Yong-gun added, “They put a stake in there.”

Baek Il-seop also attracted attention by announcing his graduation from marriage at the age of 73. Baek Il-seop, who currently lives alone with two dogs, said that although he was legally married, he chose to marry after graduation, saying, “I came out with only a bag.”

Baek Il-seop confessed through the documentary program ‘I Like People’, saying, “I had no special plans, no motivation, and at some point I felt like I had to go out and live alone.” Kim Soo-mi was worried about Baek Il-seop, who lives alone, but Baek Il-seop expressed satisfaction with his life living alone, saying, "If I want to cook bulgogi and have a glass of soju, that's it." In response, Kim Soo-mi said, “Meal kit food comes out well,” and added, “Call me the address. “I will send it to you with barley gulbi,” he said.

Baek Il-seop also revealed the reason why he left MBC for the past 20 years. He said, "I was close to producer Lee Young-heon, and (producer Lee) said in front of people, 'You'll come to your senses and do well from now on.'" He added, "I had a drink in the office and he came up. I threw the script and said I wouldn't do it. The next day was the recording, so I just threw it away. “It came out,” he said.

Baek Il-seop said that his relationship with producer Lee Young-heon had soured because of that incident, and confessed, "At the time, my pride was hurt. But not being able to control my temper is one of the things I regret in my life."

20 years later, Baek Il-seop received a casting request for 'Sons and Daughters', and although he had a lot of concerns because PD Lee Young-heon was the head of MBC's production department at the time, he said that he decided to appear after a long period of persuasion from the producer in charge. Baek Il-seop explained, "'Sons and Daughters' was a huge hit, and I went to Producer Lee Young-heon and apologized for the first time in 20 years. We resolved the conflict by saying that (we should both) forget about the program because it did well."

Baek Il-seop is said to have incurred 900 million won in debt due to business failure. Lee Gye-in said, “According to reports at the time, Baek Il-seop lost money due to a business failure. I felt pitiful. When I was filming a movie in Japan, we shared the same accommodation and went window shopping. I didn't have any money, so I shopped with my eyes, and I thought, 'How did big star Baek Il-seop end up like this?' I came to Korea after filming a movie in Japan, and then (Baek Il-seop) said that ‘Sons and Daughters’ would appear. “The drama was a huge hit, so he paid back all the money and became successful again.” In response, Baek Il-seop said, “Good luck comes by chance like that.”
