Bae Yoo-ram "I think Lee Je-hoon's sub-character play is 'working hard'"
Recently, I met actor Bae Yoo-ram, who appeared in the SBS drama 'Model Taxi 2', at Ten Asia's headquarters in Jungnim-dong, Seoul. Bae Yoo-ram plays the role of Chief Park Jin-eon, an engineer at Rainbow Transportation’s maintenance room.
In each episode, Park Joo-im also played a secondary role that was no less than that of the main character, Kim Do-gi (played by Lee Je-hoon). The ever-changing character of Park Joo-im, including a Vietnamese police officer, a rural youth, a cult member, and a security guard, brought joy to viewers.
Bae Yoo-ram said, "Do-gi in the play is from the Department of Theater and Film, so even when he plays a secondary character, he shows method acting, but the point is that I am not completely immersed in the secondary character. Even when Park Joo-im plays a secondary character, I think, 'Isn't this it?' "I think it's fun to play a clumsy secondary character. I graduated from an engineering school, so I'm weak at acting," he said. He continued, "I am a member of a pseudo-religion, and in order to capture the drug dealing scene inside the club, I disguised myself as a foreigner and wore a shaggy cut and a pigtail. There are sophisticated foreigners, but they did it in an unfashionable way. I live hard, don't I? Looking at Je-hoon, who transformed into a shaman, I thought, 'I work hard.' I thought, ‘I’m alive.’ Compared to that, I think I’m still lacking,” he said, laughing.
Bae Yu-ram also shared the story behind her makeup. He said, "A different makeup team from Season 1 came. As the drama got halfway through, the makeup team said they were more excited. When we asked, 'Is this right?', they said, 'The director told us to do it this way.' Hyukjin and I tried to make it more fun. “I think we did. We were like, ‘These people are excited.’ I think the tone matched well with the drama,” he said with satisfaction.
The sight of the Five Rainbow Fortune members punishing heinous criminals with strong team play was a thrill for viewers. Another point to watch was the stronger and more pleasant relationship between the Rainbow Five, who reunited after a breakup.
Bae Yoo-ram said, "Season 1 went well and I was excited to start season 2, so there was more synergy and stronger team play. Even if an NG or unexpected situation occurred, I didn't think, 'Why can't I do it?' but 'I will do better in the next cut. Everyone thought positively. Surprisingly, there are not many scenes in the play where all five people meet together. So, on the day of filming the scene where all five people meet in Rainbow Fortune, they were even happier. Each person asked which scene and how they filmed it. “We also chatted,” he said.
Bae Yoo-ram showed off her bickering chemistry with Jang Hyuk-jin, who plays Choi Joo-im, and played the role of the drama's licorice. Bae Yoo-ram said about Jang Hyuk-jin, "He is like a big brother. We are very close, but he is not my older brother, but he feels like an older brother. He takes good care of me and has a gentle personality."
Regarding the acting chemistry with Jang Hyuk-jin, he was satisfied and said, “I like it so much, there’s nothing to say.” He said, "If I act too much, he puts me down, and if I get greedy or too absorbed, he looks at the situation as a whole and takes care of me. When we go to local locations, we have a drink afterward and talk about the work and worry about what to film next." boasted.
When asked if there was an episode in which Jang Hyuk-jin and Jang had the best chemistry, he answered, "It's the first episode of Season 2, filmed in Vietnam." Bae Yoo-ram said, "I filmed Season 2 a year and a half after filming Season 1 with my brother. Even though we saw each other briefly in the meantime, it had been a long time since we had acted together. Even so, we acted as if we had acted yesterday. My brother and I were preparing something for each other. “I knew without even having to say I was here or what I wanted. Even though my first filming was overseas, in Vietnam, I had fun filming without any problems,” he said.
Bae Yu-ram also praised other Rainbow Transportation team members. Regarding Lee Je-hoon, he said, "He keeps smiling and joking around with people on set. It's actually different from 'main character' Kim Do-gi. What's confusing is that 'main character' Kim Do-gi seems to be acting, and he looks more excited when playing 'second character' Kim Do-gi." Regarding Pyo Ye-jin, she laughed and said, "She is easy-going. She is practically the 'Choi Gwangja'. She is not a crazy person, but a person who will shine." At the same time, "In Season 1, Yejin released a song as a drama OST, and we said 'buy food' with empty words. We remembered that and recently bought beef. During Season 1, the coronavirus was severe, so everyone refrained from gathering and talked often in KakaoTalk room. “But every time we get together like this, we reveal all the stories we’ve been building up,” he said, boasting of the team chemistry.
'Model Taxi 2' is a private revenge drama in which a mysterious taxi company, Rainbow Transportation, and taxi driver Kim Do-gi complete revenge on behalf of wronged victims. It ended on the 15th.
