Lee Seung-gi wins the Best Actor Award at the ‘Korea PD Awards’

Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi received the joint grand prize at the '2022 KBS Drama Awards' for the KBS drama 'Love According to the Law' and also received the actor award at the 'Korea PD Awards'. This is a separate result from the success of the work.

Lee Seung-gi received the Performer Award in the talent category for 'Love According to the Law' at the '35th Korea PD Awards' recorded and broadcast by MBC on the afternoon of the 26th.

Lee Seung-gi, who stood on stage that day, said, “I am so honored to receive a big award through the KBS drama ‘Love According to the Law.’”

He said, "What I've been thinking about more and more these days is that so many people are working hard to produce good dramas. I would like to thank the PD, writers, and directing staff who are in charge of the drama once again."

He then pledged, “I will work tirelessly and do my best to show good acting in each work given to me.”

Lee Seung-gi also won the joint grand prize with Joo Sang-wook for 'Love According to the Law' at the '2022 KBS Drama Awards' last year.

However, there are some evaluations that the results are unexpected in terms of viewership ratings. 'Love According to the Law' did not stand out in any way, including viewership ratings, production quality, and acting ability. The highest viewership rating was 7.1%, and among mini-series excluding weekend dramas and daily dramas, it was behind 'Red Heart' (8.9%) and 'Curtain Call' (7.2%). The last episode recorded its lowest viewership rating of 5.3%.

Lee Seung-gi also seemed to be aware of this, saying, "I think the grand prize has many meanings, but I think I received it thanks to the efforts of the staff rather than because of an individual's outstanding acting ability. The director said that KBS has produced a profitable drama for the first time in the past few years." He said.

Lee Seung-gi confessed, "Actually, I think I've thought about hundreds of times whether I should come to the Drama Awards today or ask for understanding and not attend." He added, "As many of you know, I have personal issues to deal with, so coming to a festival like this and just smiling makes me feel bad. Sitting with an expressionless expression didn't seem to be the right thing to do, so I acted a lot on a whim. There is one reason why I decided to come here. Since dramas are created by teams, I came with the mindset that the sweat and effort of the drama should not be neglected due to personal problems. “Thank you for the great award,” he said.

On the 7th, Lee Seung-gi married actress Gyeon Mi-ri's daughter and actress Lee Da-in.
