Previously, Jessi was embroiled in controversy over allegedly ignoring a fan assault incident. According to police, on September 29 last year, a minor fan requested a photo with Jessi in Apgujeong, Gangnam, and was assaulted by a male in Jessi's entourage. Jessi was investigated but was cleared of any charges as authorities found no wrongdoing on her part.

In July 2022, Jessi left P NATION, led by Psy. She then signed with Jay Park's MORE VISION but unexpectedly announced the end of her contract in January last year.
