BTOB Returns with Heartfelt EP 'BTODAY': A Message of Hope and Comfort
Released on the 5th, 'BTODAY' marks BTOB's grand return to their global fanbase. The title track, 'LOVE TODAY', is a pop song with a modern rock band sound, featuring acoustic guitar and the members' emotive vocals. Lee Minhyuk contributed to the lyrics and composition, while Peniel participated in the rap-making, infusing the track with BTOB's unique musical color and emotion.
The EP also includes 'Starry Night', a beautiful love story likened to stars lighting up a dark night, 'Say Yes', a heartfelt confession yearning for an affirmative response, and previously released tracks from the 'BECOMING PROJECT' such as 'Flame', 'Be Alright', and 'Could It Be Better'. The album showcases BTOB's delicate vocal tones and singing abilities across six well-crafted tracks.
The four members of BTOB Company—Seo Eunkwang, Lee Minhyuk, Lim Hyunsik, and Peniel—engaged with global fans by releasing new songs monthly from October to December last year through the 'BECOMING PROJECT'. The 'BTODAY' album brings these efforts together, culminating in a spectacular finale. In a Q&A session, BTOB introduced their new release.
Q: How do you feel about your comeback with the new album 'BTODAY'?
A: (Seo Eunkwang) I'm thrilled and excited for this comeback after a long time. As we return with the start of spring in March, I hope this album brings warmth to everyone.
A: (Peniel) It's exciting to return with a BTOB album after about two years! I'm looking forward to meeting Melody (BTOB's official fan club name).
Q: What is the title track 'LOVE TODAY' about?
A: (Lee Minhyuk) It's a message for those who find each day overwhelming. Having experienced such times myself, I created this song to overcome and move forward together.
A: (Lim Hyunsik) It's a warm song with the message 'Let's love today'. It allows both the listener and the performer to feel greater love.
Q: What are the highlights of 'LOVE TODAY', and is there a particular moment you recommend?
A: (Seo Eunkwang) I hope this song provides rest when you're tired and struggling, like the lyrics 'When you're so sad you could collapse at the end of a weary day, it's okay to take a break'.
A: (Peniel) The song is filled with sing-along moments. Singing the chorus together will be healing.
Q: If you could describe the new album 'BTODAY' in one word or sentence, what would it be and why?
A: (Seo Eunkwang) 'Sunshine'. It's an album that's hot, warm, bright, and cozy like sunshine.
A: (Lim Hyunsik) 'Colorful'. It's an album with a harmonious blend of songs in various colors.
Q: You consistently participate in songwriting. What do you focus on during the process, and where do you find inspiration?
A: (Lee Minhyuk) I need to enjoy the process first. I try to make melodies easily accessible to everyone and hope the lyrics resonate with many. The situation and mental state during the process greatly influence the songs.
A: (Lim Hyunsik) I freely find inspiration anytime, anywhere. I strive to create music that can be enjoyed for a long time without getting tired of it, paying attention to the narrative structure.
Q: Are there any special episodes or memorable moments during the album preparation, such as recording, jacket, or music video shooting?
A: (Seo Eunkwang) During the jacket shoot, I worked with a snail friend who was too scared to come out of its shell, so we ended up shooting with the shell.
A: (Lee Minhyuk) I remember dieting and sweating it out in a sauna to look good for Melody during this long-awaited comeback.
Q: How do you feel about your upcoming 13th debut anniversary on the 21st, and what can fans expect from the fan concert?
A: (Seo Eunkwang) I'm just filled with gratitude. It's a day to thank Melody for being with us for 13 years since our debut. I hope we all feel the happiest in the world at that moment.
A: (Lim Hyunsik) I feel closer and more connected to Melody as the years go by. I hope the fan concert will be a time to deepen our relationship.
Q: What reactions or titles do you hope to achieve with the new album 'BTODAY'?
A: (Lee Minhyuk) As a team, I hope to hear the title 'trustworthy and listenable idols'. Personally, I want to be recognized for my musicality.
A: (Lim Hyunsik) I want to hear the reaction 'as expected, trustworthy and listenable BTOB'. I hope everyone who listens to BTOB's music becomes happier.
