K-Pop Star Song Ga-in Breaks New Ground with Fourth Album 'Gain;Dal'

On the afternoon of the 11th, a showcase was held at the Sky Art Hall in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of Song Ga-in's fourth studio album, 'Gain;Dal'.
This new album, released after nearly three years, marks a significant musical transformation for Song Ga-in, featuring a diverse range of genres including traditional trot, medium tempo, ballads, and modern pop.
Addressing the press, Song Ga-in expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you for braving the cold to be here. It's a momentous occasion," and added, "I'm so nervous that I can hardly speak," revealing her excitement.
The title track 'Asadal' is a traditional trot song inspired by the tragic legend of Asadal, the stonemason who built the Seokgatap at Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju. Song Ga-in showcased her expertise by performing the music video and stage performance of 'Asadal'.
She also shared behind-the-scenes details about another title track, 'Tears Fall', released on the 22nd of last month. This song, produced by senior singer Sim Soo-bong, captures the poignant emotions of a breakup with lyrical sensitivity, highlighting Song Ga-in's new vocal style.

Reflecting on her initial reaction to 'Tears Fall', Song Ga-in said, "It was so challenging that I wondered if I could handle it. After receiving lessons from the teacher, I realized I had to change my singing style completely." She added, "The teacher advised me to relax and sing as if I were speaking. It was difficult at first, but after practicing as instructed, the teacher praised me as a 'genius'."
Regarding the public's reaction to 'Tears Fall', Song Ga-in noted, "There are mixed opinions. Some say it's not typical of Song Ga-in, while others appreciate the relaxed and comfortable style. Fortunately, more people seem to like it."

Recalling her long period of obscurity, Song Ga-in shared, "I endured with the belief that things would get better. I stayed positive, and good days came. I encourage my juniors to keep working hard, as their efforts will be rewarded."
As a pansori major, Song Ga-in expressed her deep affection for traditional trot, saying, "Pansori and trot share many similarities. For me, traditional trot showcases my strengths better than semi-trot or other genres. It's an inseparable part of me, and I intend to continue with it."
Looking ahead, Song Ga-in aims to connect more closely with her audience. She has filmed various TV programs and YouTube content, preparing to travel across Korea. She urged fans to support and love her efforts, saying, "I'm preparing to be more approachable, so please cheer for me."
She humorously added, "I want to achieve high viewership and appear on trending videos. I also want to receive the Silver Button. It's a regret that I didn't start YouTube sooner."
Song Ga-in promises to engage actively with her audience through her new songs, signaling a vibrant return to the music scene.
