BTS Unveils 'KEEP SWIMMING with BTS' Mini Documentary Highlighting the Value of Perseverance
This project is part of a campaign based on the message of 'SWIM', the title track from their 5th studio album 'ARIRANG'. It focuses on the importance of sustainable daily life and the weight of effort, rather than just the achievements that make headlines. The documentary calmly portrays the journey, philosophy, and daily life of an individual, highlighting the unseen hours of practice, work, and training over moments of flashy success. It reflects on each person's 'KEEP SWIMMING' moments, suggesting that not stopping is already a significant advancement.
The fresh approach of expressing the song's message through the life of a master in a particular field is noteworthy. The first documentary, released on the 3rd, features director Park Chan-wook. He describes himself as not being a 'difficult writer' and mentions that he is not bound by location when writing scripts. However, he emphasizes the importance of communication, stating, "Instead of struggling alone, I keep talking to people and asking questions." He implies that asking and listening repeatedly is the best shortcut to good judgment.
The second video offers a glimpse into the philosophy of Nora Noh, Korea's first fashion designer. She reminisces about her initial venture into the U.S., reflects on her greatest achievements, and discusses the future. She hopes the name 'Nora Noh' will continue forever, stating, "You have to try until you can't anymore. No one can force you," conveying the value of 'KEEP SWIMMING'. These attitudes resonate with BTS's message, garnering a warm response.
The upcoming lineup, continuing the campaign's message, is also highly anticipated. Stories of individuals like national snowboarder Choi Ga-on, who quietly ride the waves in their respective fields, will be unveiled sequentially. The short-form mini documentary 'KEEP SWIMMING with BTS' is available every Monday and Friday at 10 PM on BTS's official YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, 'ARIRANG' is an album that encompasses BTS's identity and the emotions accumulated throughout their journey. The title track 'SWIM' sings about the attitude of continuing to swim through the waves of life. It expresses the will to calmly move forward at one's own pace, rather than resisting the incoming tide, as 'a love for life'. Notably, RM took charge of writing the lyrics, delivering authenticity.
