Shin Hyun-bin Shines in Director Yeon Sang-ho's New Film 'The Hive'

Director Yeon Sang-ho's latest film 'The Hive' has unveiled stills of actress Shin Hyun-bin as the character Gong Seol-hee.

'The Hive' is a film about isolated survivors in a building sealed off due to a mysterious infection outbreak, facing off against infected individuals who evolve in unpredictable ways. Shin Hyun-bin plays Gong Seol-hee, a professor of biotechnology and a member of a special investigation team.

Shin Hyun-bin has built a diverse filmography with her wide-ranging performances. She realistically portrayed the daily life of a resident doctor with a warm heart in 'Hospital Playlist', depicted a strong and principled character with restrained acting in 'Reborn Rich', and delivered a heavy portrayal of suppressed emotions in 'Revelation'. She also completed a mysterious character by delicately capturing the emotions of a faceless figure in 'Face'. In 'The Hive', Shin Hyun-bin is expected to leave a deep impression by showcasing an expanded acting spectrum.

'The Hive' marks Shin Hyun-bin's third collaboration with director Yeon Sang-ho, following 'Revelation' and 'Face', drawing attention. Shin Hyun-bin expressed her excitement, saying, "It was interesting and refreshing to work on a project within a new universe among the director's works." Director Yeon Sang-ho explained his casting choice, stating, "I believe Shin Hyun-bin is an actress with a sense of justice in her eyes. Considering Gong Seol-hee's choices, I thought of an actress who could convey a sense of justice, and naturally, Shin Hyun-bin came to mind."

Shin Hyun-bin portrays Gong Seol-hee, a biotechnologist striving to uncover the cause of the infection outbreak in the Doonguri Building and resolve it. In the film, Gong Seol-hee accepts the special investigation team's proposal to investigate the incident after losing contact with her husband, who went to the Doonguri Building.

The released stills capture Gong Seol-hee's transformation, from moments of ordinary life before the outbreak to investigating a mysterious laboratory and having a serious phone conversation. These images vividly show how the mysterious infection outbreak disrupts her life. As viewers wonder how the character, caught between her emotions as a victim's family member and her professionalism as a scholar, will resolve the situation, anticipation for Shin Hyun-bin's convincing portrayal of a complex inner world is also rising.

'The Hive' is set to hit theaters this May.
