CGV is set to host a special retrospective honoring the works of the late actor Ahn Sung-ki.

On the 19th, CGV announced the 'Ahn Sung-ki Memorial Retrospective,' which will take place from the 25th of this month to the 14th of next month at the CGV Apgujeong Arthouse ART1 Hall, also known as the 'Ahn Sung-ki Hall.' This special event is organized to commemorate the late actor Ahn Sung-ki, who left a significant mark on Korean cinema.

Ahn Sung-ki passed away in January at the age of 74. Having appeared in over 100 films, he was a prominent figure in Korean cinema for more than half a century, leaving a lasting impact with films such as 'Radio Star,' 'Nowhere to Hide,' 'Our Joyful Young Days,' and 'Revivre.'

What Films Will Be Screened?

The retrospective will feature eight of Ahn's representative works, spanning his career from his debut as a child actor in the 1960 film 'The Housemaid' to 'The Day a Pig Fell into the Well,' 'Whale Hunting,' 'Chilsu and Mansu,' 'Nowhere to Hide,' 'Radio Star,' 'Unbowed,' and 'Cassiopeia.' These films have been carefully selected to showcase Ahn's extensive filmography and his significance in Korean film history. The Korean Film Archive supports the screening of these works in alignment with the retrospective's purpose.

The 10th Anniversary of the Ahn Sung-ki Hall

This memorial retrospective also marks the 10th anniversary of the 'Ahn Sung-ki Hall' at CGV Apgujeong Arthouse ART1. The hall is part of CGV Arthouse's Korean Film Tribute Project, which dedicates screening halls to honor and highlight the achievements of filmmakers who have elevated the status of Korean cinema.
