Actress Jang Hye-jin Expresses Confidence in Upcoming Film 'Number One'
Recently, Jang Hye-jin, who stars in the movie 'Number One' directed by Kim Tae-yong, sat down for an interview at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
The film 'Number One' tells the story of 'Ha-min' (played by Choi Woo-shik), who begins to see a decreasing number every time he eats his mother's food. He discovers that when the number reaches zero, his mother 'Eun-sil' (played by Jang Hye-jin) will die, prompting him to do everything he can to protect her. Jang Hye-jin plays the role of 'Eun-sil', a mother who feels distant from her son as he establishes his life in Seoul.
Regarding the film's release during the Lunar New Year holiday, Jang Hye-jin shared her honest feelings, saying, "I'm always nervous because you can immediately see the audience's reactions." She added, "I'm curious about how our film will be received, especially since several movies are released simultaneously during the holiday."
She continued, "When people from the countryside come to Seoul and get tired of the city's concrete smell, they often think of their mother's home-cooked meals." She added, "Even during filming, I felt that warmth." Jang Hye-jin explained, "We used the 'cheat code' of a mother's home-cooked meal, but there's a reason it's a cheat code. We can't exist without our mothers." She concluded, "Whether your relationship with your mother is good or not, the emotional significance of 'mother' is undeniable. Although it's a story about a mother and son, it's ultimately a story for all of us, making it a perfect film to warm the hearts of audiences during the holiday."
The film 'Number One' is set to be released on the 11th.
