Korean Film 'Project Y' Captivates Japanese Audiences with Simultaneous Release
'Project Y' is a crime entertainment movie that tells the story of Miseon and Dokyung, who, while dreaming of a different tomorrow in the heart of a bustling city, find themselves on the edge of life, stealing black money and gold bars. The film stars Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo in lead roles. Released in Japan on the 23rd, 'Project Y' has been receiving positive reviews from Japanese audiences.
Typically, Korean films are released in Japan six months to a year after their domestic release. However, due to the interest in 'Project Y' and a strategic partnership agreement (MOU) between Plus M Entertainment and KDDI Corporation to strengthen cooperation in the Korean-Japanese film market, the film had an unprecedented simultaneous release. The chemistry between Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo, along with a strong cast including Kim Shin-rok, Jung Young-joo, Lee Jae-kyun, Yoo Ah, and Kim Sung-cheol, heightened anticipation for 'Project Y'. Director Lee Hwan and Han So-hee actively promoted the film by visiting Japan for the release promotion.
Japanese audiences who attended the premiere screening expressed their enthusiasm, saying, "It was genuinely entertaining. The use of music was excellent," "The combination of Han So-hee's charming and strategic acting with Jeon Jong-seo's sharp yet love-seeking performance was the best. Kim Sung-cheol's overwhelming presence made it perfect," "The Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo duo is amazing! They are so captivating, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen," "The film's incredible pace is felt from the start! It's a work rich in genre fun and elements," and "The chemistry between Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo is outstanding!"
