Rising Star Choo Young-woo Quits Coffee and Alcohol for Healthier Lifestyle
Recently, at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, we met with Choo Young-woo, the lead actor of the film 'Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight' (hereafter 'EITLD').
'EITLD' is a youth romance film about Seo-yoon (played by Shin Si-a), who suffers from anterograde amnesia and loses her memory every day, and Jae-won (played by Choo Young-woo), who fills her memory daily. The film is an adaptation of Ichijo Misaki's bestselling novel, which has sold over 1.3 million copies worldwide. Choo Young-woo plays Jae-won, a high school student living a monotonous life.
Since his debut in 2021, Choo Young-woo has experienced a year of rapid growth, starring in several dramas such as 'The Tale of Lady Ok', 'The Trauma Code', 'Mercy for None', and 'Head Over Heels'. Through these works, he has captivated audiences with his handsome appearance and stable acting skills, becoming a 'trending actor' within a year. Choo Young-woo expressed his satisfaction, saying, "I feel like I've worked hard and have no regrets. I've had a fulfilling year. As an actor and as a person, I feel I'm changing for the better. I like my current routine, personality, and values. I think I've spent the year well."
Reflecting on the changes over the past year, he shared, "I used to have a lot of worries and stress because it was a time of imminent change. I made many mistakes while trying to adapt to the changing lifestyle. But now, I feel more at ease." He continued, "I'm trying to let go of unnecessary things and focus on what's important. Recently, I completely quit alcohol and coffee. I used to drink 4-5 cups of coffee a day, but now I only occasionally drink decaf. I've stopped drinking alcohol entirely for about three months and plan to continue." He explained, "With a physically demanding schedule and lack of sleep, adding these two would be disastrous. It's for my health, so I naturally quit both." However, he added with a laugh, "As a result, I don't go out much or meet people. I've been playing MapleStory at home. There's an event going on right now."
