Lee Byung-hun Opens the 30th Busan International Film Festival with Heartfelt Reflections
Actor Lee Byung-hun took the stage as the host of the 30th Busan International Film Festival's opening ceremony, sharing his unique reflections on the occasion.

The opening ceremony of the 30th Busan International Film Festival took place on the evening of the 17th, attended by numerous stars and industry figures. Lee Byung-hun, who stars in the opening film 'Hopeless' directed by Park Chan-wook, served as the host.

Lee Byung-hun greeted the audience, saying, "A small dream that began in the city of Busan 30 years ago has now become a film festival representing Asia. It's great to see everyone who has been part of this journey and those who are joining us for the first time today." He continued, "Standing here feels surreal. I debuted in 1991 and shot my first film in 1995, making me a 30-year veteran actor this year. There's a Confucian saying, 'At thirty, one stands firm.' They say thirty is the noon of life. Perhaps that's why I finally feel a bit like an actor after 30 years." He also noted, "Interestingly, the Busan Film Festival started around the same time as my career. We've grown together. There are a few memorable moments from that long journey."

A video showcasing Lee Byung-hun's moments at the Busan Film Festival played on the big screen. Lee remarked, "When I first came here, I was like you, sitting in the audience, wondering what films would be shown and if I would ever stand on this stage. Today, here I am, and I'm grateful." He added, "Time changes us in many ways, but the excitement we feel in front of a film remains the same, then and now. What movies have taught us is that every story has a beginning, and tonight, we will witness another new beginning together," officially opening the 30th Busan International Film Festival.

The 30th Busan International Film Festival runs from today until the 26th, spanning 10 days around the Busan Cinema Center. This year's festival will showcase 328 films from 64 countries.
