'Yadang' Dominates Box Office During Golden Holiday, Sets New Records

'Yadang' tells the story of a broker named Yadang who designs the drug trade in South Korea, a prosecutor aiming for higher status, and a detective dedicated to eradicating drug crimes, all intertwined with different motives.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets, 'Yadang' maintained its number one position at the box office for four consecutive days from May 1 to May 4, and again on May 6. Despite being in its fourth week of release, the film continues to gain traction through word of mouth, even amidst competition from films like 'Minecraft Movie', 'Thunderbolts', 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters', and 'Pagua'. The film, rated R, is praised for its exhilarating and unique appeal.
During the Golden Holiday, 'Yadang' surpassed 2 million viewers, breaking box office records. It outperformed 'Deadpool and Wolverine' and became the highest-grossing R-rated film released since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Additionally, it surpassed the records of 'The Match' and 'Hitman 2', securing its place as the top-grossing Korean film release of the year.
'Yadang' is currently showing in theaters nationwide.
