Lee Min-ki Faces Challenges with Latin Lines in Occult Horror Film 'Devils Stay'
Lee Min-ki faced challenges memorizing Latin lines for his role in the film 'Devils Stay'.

On the 12th, a press screening and conference for the movie 'Devils Stay' was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Hyun Moon-seop and actors Park Shin-yang, Lee Min-ki, and Lee Re attended the event.

'Devils Stay' is an occult horror film that unfolds over three days of a funeral, where an exorcism is performed to prevent something from awakening in the heart of a deceased daughter. Park Shin-yang plays Seung-do, a loving father and thoracic surgeon. Lee Min-ki takes on the role of Hae-shin, an exorcist who senses something amiss in the dead heart. Lee Re portrays So-mi, a possessed girl who exhibits strange symptoms after a heart transplant and loses her life during the exorcism.

Lee Min-ki, who plays the exorcist Hae-shin, found the character appealing because he was once exorcised himself and now performs exorcisms. He said, “The character's ability to be both cold and desperate was attractive.”

Director Hyun praised Lee Min-ki's casting, saying, “He looked great in a priest's robe. We considered the visual aspect as well. He expressed the psychology of a character who touches the demonic very well.”

In the film, Lee Min-ki had to deliver lines in Latin due to the exorcism scenes. He shared, “I'm usually good at memorizing lines, so I thought it would be fine when I first received the Latin script. However, it felt like memorizing random numbers. It was tough. The Latin consultant changed midway, which complicated things, and I remember struggling with it.”

'Devils Stay' is set to be released on the 14th.
