Escape reclaims first place at the box office
‘Escape’ beat ‘Inside Out 2’ and regained first place.
According to the integrated movie theater ticket network, on the 8th, 'Escape' attracted 69,086 people in one day. As a result, the cumulative number of viewers was 806,793. 'Escape', which took first place on the 3rd, the day of its release, rose to first place again.
'Escape', starring Lee Je-hoon and Koo Kyo-hwan, depicts the life-threatening chase between Gyu-nam, a North Korean soldier who sets out to escape for tomorrow, and Hyeon-sang, an officer of the National Security Agency who chases after Gyu-nam to protect today.
‘Inside Out 2’ fell one place to second place. The number of daily viewers is 56,312, and the cumulative number of viewers is 6,974,189.
'Inside Out 2' attracted 190,000 people on the first day of its release, achieving the highest opening score of any domestic Pixar release ever. In addition, it surpassed 4 million viewers within 12 days of its release, making it one of the top 3 box office hits this year, following 'Pamyo' and 'Crime City 4'. It also surpassed the record of 4.97 million recorded by the previous film ‘Inside Out’ (2015).
'Inside Out 2' is an animation film about the crisis and adventure that begins again when 13-year-old Riley's peaceful daily life is shattered as new unfamiliar emotions such as anxiety, embarrassment, boredom, and envy appear in the emotional control center in Riley's head.
‘Handsome Guys’ maintained 3rd place. During the day, 34,920 viewers were added, bringing the total to 1,004,898.
'Handsome Guys', starring Lee Sung-min and Lee Hee-jun, is a horror comedy about Jae-pil and Sang-gu, who dreamed of living a peaceful country life, but end up moving into a house that is haunted.
4th place was ‘Hijacking’ and 5th place was ‘A Quiet Place: Day 1’.
As of 8 a.m. on the 9th, 'Inside Out 2' ranked first at 15.5% in real-time reservation rate. The second place in advance reservation rate is 'Escape: Project Silence' (13.2%) starring Lee Sun-kyun and Ju Ji-hoon, scheduled to be released on the 12th, and the third place is 'Escape' (12.1%).
