Inside Out 2 ranked first for 20 consecutive days
The animation film 'Inside Out 2' ranked first at the box office for 20 consecutive days, exceeding 5.7 million viewers.
According to the integrated movie theater ticket network, on the 1st, 'Inside Out 2' mobilized 82,144 people in one day. The cumulative audience number was 5,721,136. There are cautious predictions that it will not only surpass the record of 4.97 million viewers for its predecessor, 'Inside Out' (2015), but also surpass the record of 7,240,510 viewers for 'Elemental' (2023), the highest-grossing Pixar animation in Korea.
'Inside Out 2' attracted 190,000 viewers on the first day of its release, achieving the highest opening score of any domestic Pixar release ever. In addition, it surpassed 4 million viewers within 12 days of its release, making it one of the top 3 box office hits this year, following 'Pamyo' and 'Crime City 4'.
'Inside Out 2' is an animation film about the crisis and adventure that begins again when 13-year-old Riley's peaceful daily life is shattered as new unfamiliar emotions such as anxiety, embarrassment, boredom, and envy appear in the emotional control center in Riley's head.
Second place went to ‘Handsome Guys’, continuing from the previous day. It ranks first among Korean films. The number of daily viewers is 55,454 and the cumulative number of viewers is 514,336.
'Handsome Guys', starring Lee Sung-min and Lee Hee-jun, is a horror comedy about Jae-pil and Sang-gu, who dreamed of living a peaceful country life, but end up moving into a house that is haunted.
'Handsome Guys' started in 4th place in the overall box office among new summer movies, rose to 3rd place on June 28th, the 3rd day of release, and continued its upward trend by ranking 2nd on the 30th, 5th day of release. On this day, it also firmly maintained its second place in the overall box office, raising expectations for box office success in the second week of release. In addition, it ranked first in seat sales on June 30th and maintained the top spot for two consecutive days until July 1st.
'Hijack 1971' maintained 3rd place. 46,634 people were added during the day, bringing the total to 1,134,183.
'Hijack 1971' is a work that depicts the extreme situation that occurred when a passenger plane was hijacked in the airspace of Korea in 1971. Ha Jung-woo, Yeo Jin-goo, Seong Dong-il, and Chae Soo-bin starred.
