Actress Lee Young-ae selected as winner of Asian Film Excellence Award
Actress Lee Young-ae was selected as the winner of the Asian Film Excellence Award at the 17th Asian Film Awards.
The Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA), an organization established in 2013 by the Hong Kong International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, and Tokyo International Film Festival to develop Asian films, holds the Asian Film Awards every year to celebrate filmmakers who have developed the Asian film industry. Their work has been commemorated and celebrated.
The Asian Film Excellence Award is an award given to Asian filmmakers who have achieved outstanding achievements in the Asian film industry and culture as a whole. This year, two winners were designated, and the other winners, excluding Lee Young-ae, will be revealed on the 4th.
He has shown diverse acting in the movies ‘Joint Security Area JSA’ (2000), ‘Spring Day is Gone’ (2001), ‘Kind Vengeance’ (2005), and ‘Find Me’ (2019). Recently, Lee Young-ae played the role of a world-class female conductor in the drama 'Maestra' (2023), and announced her return with 'Dae Jang-geum, the female doctor', which tells the story of the aftermath of 'Dae Jang-geum' in 2003.
Busan International Film Festival Chairman Park Gwang-soo said, "Lee Young-ae, who continues to challenge herself as an actress, is the best actress in Korea in name and reality and still serves as an example to many young actors. I hope she continues to do well with various films and dramas."
Youngae Lee said, "I am very honored to receive the Asian Film Excellence Award. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with various Asian filmmakers in the future. And I hope that through this, Korean films and culture will become more known around the world." He expressed his feelings.
The 17th Asian Film Awards will be held at the Hong Kong Xiqu Center on March 10th.
