Director Hollynur Palmasson's film 'Godland' to be released in Korea in February
The movie 'Godland' (directed by Hlinur Palmasson) has released a teaser poster.
'Godland' is a film about the journey of a young Danish Lutheran priest to Iceland in the late 19th century to build a church, and was directed by new director Hlynur Pálmason.
Foreign media praised the film, including “an extraordinary film with a breathtaking scale” (The Guardian) and “a masterpiece that captures the wonders of nature, primordial beauty, and human foolishness” (Los Angels Times). It is said to contain deep thoughts on nature, humans, religion, and colonialism in a grand scale reminiscent of 'The Mission' and 'Aguirre, Wrath of God.'
The teaser poster shows the main character, Father Lucas, and the main characters surrounding him against a wide meadow in the background. They stare at the camera with a stern expression, like people taking wet photos of the old days. The girl and young woman sitting on the arm of the chair, and the two men standing behind the chair continue to remind us of the connection with the bride. The English original title 'Godland' stimulates interest as it has a contradictory meaning to the Danish/Icelandic original title 'Vanskabte Land'/'Volaða Land', which means 'distorted land'.
The movie ‘Godland’ is scheduled to be released in February.
