Kim Sun-young wins Best Supporting Actress Award
Actress Kim Sun-young won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 59th Grand Bell Awards.

Kim Sun-young, who starred in the movie 'Concrete Utopia' (directed by Eom Tae-hwa), was honored with the Best Supporting Actress award at the 59th Grand Bell Awards held at the Gyeonggi Arts Center in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do at 6 pm yesterday (15th). The Grand Bell Awards, which has been held every year since 1962, is considered one of Korea's three major film awards, along with the Blue Dragon Film Awards and Baeksang Arts Awards. This year, while the movie 'Concrete Utopia' was nominated in a total of 11 categories, Kim Sun-young received the Best Supporting Actress award, proving her reputation in the world.

In 'Concrete Utopia', Kim Seon-young played the role of Geum-ae, the president of the women's council in the imperial palace apartment, and spurred a dramatic narrative by immersively portraying a character who takes the lead in ostracizing outsiders. As the conflict for survival in the play gradually deepened, Kim Sun-young's instinctive and lively acting skills created a breathtaking sense of overwhelmingness.

Meanwhile, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress for the movie 'Dream Palace' (directed by Ka Seong-moon). Kim Seon-young has proven her ability to lead the center of the play by expressing the complex emotions of Hye-jeong, who continues her lonely fight to protect the apartment she bought for her husband's life, conveying a heavy resonance.

Kim Seon-young said, “I am so happy and grateful for winning the first trophy from the Grand Bell Awards for ‘Concrete Utopia.’ “I was very excited when acting on the set of ‘Concrete Utopia’ and had a valuable experience that felt like I was going to another world,” he said. “I especially received a lot of energy from senior Lee Byung-hun and learned a lot. “It was an honor to be able to work with all the staff of ‘Concrete Utopia,’” he said, bringing joy to the audience.

Meanwhile, following the Grand Bell Awards, Kim Sun-young was also nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 44th Blue Dragon Film Awards, further heightening public expectations for subsequent awards. Attention is being paid to the continued progress of Kim Seon-young, an ‘unrivaled acting craftsman’ who brings her characters to life vividly.
