François Truffaut: Antoine Doinel Chronicles special exhibition held

‘François Truffaut: Antoine Doinel Chronicles’ will be held at Art Nine, a theater dedicated to independent art films, from November 15th to 30th.

François Truffaut, the master of the Nouvelle Vague, presents 'François Truffaut: Antoine Doinel Chronicles' by selecting five works that depict the growth and love of 'Antoine Doinel', the character of the century that he projected himself into.

The 'Antoine Doinel' series consists of a total of five works, including 'The 400 Blows', 'Antoine and Colette', 'Stolen Kisses', 'The Couple's Residence', and 'The Flight of Love'. Jean-Pierre Léaud, Truffaut's persona and the face of French Nouvelle Vague, participated. Truffaut and Leo accompanied Antoine Doinel like their own alter egos for 20 years, from childhood to adulthood, vividly creating Antoine Doinel's life and depicting his love and growth.

The monumental masterpiece '400 Blows', which was the first and dazzling beginning of the Nouvelle Vague, recreates through Antoine Doinel the memories of director Truffaut's childhood, when he sought an escape through film and literature to escape from indifferent parents and oppressive schools. Work. Truffaut first met Jean-Pierre Leo while looking for the role of Antoine in 'The 400 Blows'. Although he was known as a troublemaker who often misbehaved at school, he was well-educated for his age, and Truffaut is said to have found himself skipping school to watch movies in his rebellious appearance.

The second work, 'Antoine and Colette', is a work that Antoine returned to when he turned 17, and reflects the pain and experience of love that Truffaut personally experienced. It is also one of the omnibus films 'L'amour à vingt ans' (Love at 20) worked with Andrzej Wajda and Renzo Rossellini.

The third work, 'Stolen Kisses', depicts the new wanderings experienced by Antoine as an adult, unable to adapt to society. Jean-Pierre Leo, in his twenties and reunited with Antoine after six years, shows a strong personality and strong presence.

The fourth work, 'Couple's Residence', is about Antoine, who turned 26, marries Christine, whom he met in 'Stolen Kisses', gives birth to a son, and lives an ordinary married life. It depicts the awkward married life of a young couple with a humorous touch. .

The last work, 'Escape from Love', is a work that seems to look back on Antoine's life by looking into the psychology of Antoine, who continues to live an unstable life while continuing a complicated relationship with women after an agreed divorce with Christine. As it is the final film that decorates the chronicle of 'Antoine Doinel', scenes from 'Antoine and Colette', 'Stolen Kiss', and 'The Couple's Residence' are inserted as flashbacks throughout the movie, making the 20 years of time appear like a mosaic on the screen.
