Director Park Seong-kwang “I change from Lee Sol, who watches ‘I Am God’ while cursing”

Director Park Seong-gwang mentioned his wife Lee Sol-i.

On the afternoon of the 16th, director Park Seong-gwang told various stories related to the movie 'Woongnam', which is about to be released, at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

'Woongnam' is a comical action movie in which a man with a special secret called Asiatic Black Bear uses his unique beast-like abilities to cooperate with an international criminal organization to investigate.

Park Seong-kwang directed the short film ‘Swear’ in early 2011. He then directed the short film 'Sad Because It's Not Sad' in 2017 and the film project 'Strong', which was part of 'Don Rix 2' in 2020. For him, ‘Woongnam’ is his first commercial film.

On this day, director Park Seong-gwang said that he learned a lot from his first commercial film, ‘Woongnam’. He said, "As the scale grew, the responsibility grew. The pressure also increased, but I can make independent films and short films with just my thoughts. So, aren't they independent films and short films? Commercial films are made by many people, including investors, production companies, and distributors. “It was very difficult to persuade them because I had to listen to their opinions and reflect them,” he confessed.

He continued, "That part was a little difficult. Because it was a long film, I wanted to film everything well. Later, when I needed to film better, I couldn't concentrate. I learned choice and concentration. I had to be able to boldly throw away some parts and focus on certain parts. “I knew you were doing it,” he added.

Director Park Seong-kwang said, "My goal was until the release. The goal after the release is still there. In the past, I had set long goals, but now that I am over 40, I plan to do it step by step, little by little, without looking too far. If I look at it generously, I will give it to many people." Still, as a comedian director, I would like to be evaluated as a good director. My goal is to make the movie of my life, so much so that when I asked what the movie of my life was, I was told by several people that my movie was the movie of my life.”

Director Park Seong-gwang's life films include 'My Sassy Girl', 'About Time', and 'A Star Is Born'. What they have in common is that they are melodrama movies. Director Park Seong-kwang said, "I like melodrama, so my wife and I get along well. My wife likes investigative stories. The men and women have changed. My wife used to swear while watching 'I Am God'."

Meanwhile, 'Woongnam' will be released on the 22nd.
