Jang Dong-yoon, “I, a media addict, am in big trouble.”
Interview with Jang Dong-yoon as Doha in the movie ‘Long D’

On the morning of the 26th, Jang Dong-yoon told various stories related to the upcoming movie 'Long D' (directed by Lim Jae-wan) at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Long D' tells the untact love story of Do-ha (played by Jang Dong-yoon) and Tae-in (played by Park Yu-na), a couple of the same age who have been in a long-distance relationship for five years before turning 30. 'Long D' is the first Korean film to showcase the screen life of the romantic comedy genre. Screen life is a genre of movies that consists only of SNS windows, web cams, and YouTube screens through the screens of digital devices such as PC, mobile, and CCTV.
In the play, Jang Dong-yoon plays the role of Do-ha, a newcomer to society. Doha fell in love with Taein at first sight when she saw him singing on the streets of Hongdae five years ago. We started out as fans and became lovers.

In 'Long D', Jang Dong-yoon has an indispensable relationship with YouTube. Jang Dong-yoon said, "If I tell you about my Internet history, after the college entrance exam, I used an iPhone 4. After using that, I used an iPhone 7. I think a lot about smartphone addiction. I am exposed to a lot of digital devices, and dopamine is distributed normally. “I don’t lose, and I easily vent,” he said.
He continued, "When you watch YouTube shorts, your brain becomes a fool. Actors are supposed to act with creative thoughts, but if you keep watching videos, you can't think creatively and become a fool. So when I was filming the drama 'Search,' I switched my cell phone to 2G. “I changed it and used it for about two years. But as I started using it, the navigation system didn’t work, so I ended up getting lost, which was inconvenient,” he added.
Jang Dong-yoon said, "This world is made up of smartphones, and life is not working. So now I bought this model (iPhone). I am also a digital addict and easily exposed person, so I watch too much YouTube. I even pay for premium. "Recently, I was really worried that I was becoming a fool. I put it on a stand that looks like a cobra, lay down, watch it, and then fall asleep. I feel empty without the stand, and it has become a habit to fall asleep while watching it every time," he confessed.

Jang Dong-yoon said, "Even though I deleted the YouTube application, I look at my phone and do nothing, but I become addicted. I would rather watch one more movie. These days, it has become difficult for people to concentrate on watching movies. Recently, the Japanese movie “I watched the movie ‘Ride the Summer Film!’ It’s a movie about movies disappearing, but eventually the movies disappear and 10 seconds of footage remain, and the movies become extinct. I sympathized with this movie,” he said.
Not only that, “I am actually working (in this field) and am a person who loves movies. I also put this into practice and thought, ‘I should be a person who can watch movies.’ I really like that movie. I would rather spend that time. “I said let’s watch one episode,” he emphasized. Jang Dong-yoon made people laugh by saying, "I just watch content, so I subscribe to OTT. I watch movies and documentaries. I got in big trouble because I was addicted to media. But I quit YouTube."
'Long D' starring Jang Dong-yoon will be released on May 10th.
