‘Super Mario Bros.’ exceeds 1 million on the 8th day of release

According to distributor Universal Pictures on the 3rd, the cumulative number of viewers for 'Super Mario Bros.' exceeded 1 million this morning. (Based on the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network) This is a faster record than 'The First Slam Dunk' (14th), which attracted 4.6 million viewers.
‘Super Mario Bros.’ is recording global box office success. After exceeding $400 million (about KRW 535.8 billion) in North America, it surpassed $1 billion (about KRW 1.3394 trillion) worldwide. It ranked 4th in North American box office sales, following 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', 'Top Gun: Maverick', and 'Avatar: Waterway'. In particular, it is the only record for animation after the pandemic.
'Super Mario Bros' is a super adventure animation in which Mario, an ordinary plumber in New York, levels up to become Super Mario to save his younger brother Luigi, who has been kidnapped by Koopa, a villain from another world. It is a film adaptation of the 'Super Mario' series of video games released by the Japanese game company Nintendo in 1985. It is a US-Japan joint animation film co-produced by Illumination Entertainment and Nintendo, and is being screened to rave reviews in theaters across the country.
