On the afternoon of the 13th, a media distribution preview for the movie 'Unofficial Operation' (Director Kim Seong-hoon) was held at COEX Megabox in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Actors Ha Jung-woo and Ju Ji-hoon, and director Kim Seong-hoon attended.
The movie 'Unofficial Operation' begins in 1986 with a scene in Beirut, Lebanon where a diplomat belonging to the Korean embassy is kidnapped by local militants . The film, which took its motif from the first Korean diplomat abduction case, took only the beginning and end of 'Kidnapped' and 'Return to 21 Months Later' from real events, and filled the characters and stories in the process with cinematic imagination, making it a movie based on a true story. and unfold in a different direction.
'Unofficial Operation' gives the same feeling as the movies 'Mogadishu' or 'Negotiation' due to the nature of the genre and background. In this regard, director Kim said, "I think you can see it similarly due to the similarity of the background or place of the subject matter or story."
Regarding this film work, Ha Jung-woo said, “Because we were living together, we had a lot of time to talk compared to other works. I think spending private time together worked as a better chemistry compared to other works.” , We all collaborated together. There was a synergy that came from that, and I think we showed a good ensemble, including foreign actors,” he looked back.
Joo Ji-hoon said, "We have a strong mutual trust that has nothing to do with breathing deeply in other works. Even on days off after filming, we eat and take a walk, drink coffee with the director, and these times are sadistic in a way, but they reflect each other's keynote. I think it's time to share a breath," he said. "(Ha) Jung-woo hyung gave a much broader interpretation and made a board where we can play freely, so even though it was a very fun and difficult filming, the feeling of going to a picnic with friends remains rather than hard work. It was the scene," he said.
Car chasing occupies a significant portion of the 'unofficial operation' action. Regarding this, Ha Jung-woo introduced, "In the case of the car action scenes in the second half, they were not filmed over several days, but over four months, each time they moved to a location, they were filmed one by one at a distance suitable for the vehicle's movement."
Ha Jung-woo said that there were times when he forgot the previous filming due to the long filming, saying, "I thanked the production team for making a pre-visual so that we could carefully take care of the entire car action scene video continuity to our actors." In addition, regarding the car action and wire action, he added, “When preparing for the wire action falling from the roof, there is only prayer,” and “I worked hard on stretching and worked hard according to the preparation of the martial arts team.”
Regarding Ha Jung-woo saying the line "I'm tired" after being chased by wild dogs in the middle of the movie and coming back to life, he said, "I said it because I was tired while filming at night from morning to night, but I think the director asked me to use it." said and laughed
In response, director Kim Seong-hoon said, "I also thought, 'Was this in the dialogue?' So I looked it up. It was a scene that I went to long take once because there was a blasting scene. At that time, if I couldn't digest it, I had to shoot it again, but I wonder if that line was a condensation of Min-jun's emotions and Ha Jung-woo's emotions, so I thought it was an emotion that I spit out." Didn't it match Minjun's desperation to stop filming this award?" and made everyone laugh.
'Unofficial Operation' is a buddy action film about diplomat Min-joon (Ha Jung-woo) and local taxi driver Pan-su (Joo Ji-hoon) who go to Lebanon to rescue a missing colleague. Director Kim Seong-hun of the films 'Going to the End', 'Tunnel' and the Netflix series 'Kingdom' took charge of directing. It will be released on the 2nd of August.
