Psychiatrist Yang Jae-woong's Clinic Closes Amid Patient Death Controversy
According to the Bucheon City Health Center in Gyeonggi Province, Yang Jae-woong's clinic officially reported its closure on the 1st of this month. At the time of the closure, there were no inpatients, so no transfer procedures or prior notifications were necessary.
The clinic, which opened in Bucheon in 2010, specialized in psychiatry and alcohol addiction treatment. However, in 2024, a tragic incident occurred when a female patient in her 30s died from acute pseudo-obstruction of the intestine while receiving inpatient treatment. During the investigation, it was revealed that the medical staff had forcibly administered medication and neglected to monitor the patient's condition, resulting in a three-month suspension of operations. Five individuals, including the attending physician and nurses, were charged with involuntary manslaughter. The police also forwarded seven individuals, including Yang Jae-woong, to the prosecution, but the prosecution has requested further investigation.
As a result of this incident, the clinic suspended operations from January to March and ultimately proceeded with closure.
Yang Jae-woong had announced his marriage to EXID's Hani (Ahn Hee-yeon), who is 10 years his junior, just before the incident became public. Following the incident, the wedding has been indefinitely postponed.
